The question

Why do we hurt in places no one else can see?

The hardest things to carry are usually the ones that don’t show. They don’t announce themselves — they just sit underneath an ordinary day, and after a while we build our lives quietly around them.

Where East meets West

Two traditions. One human experience.

From the East: a sense that the body, the heart, and the mind were never really separate.

From the West: a long habit of looking inward — asking, noticing, and choosing to live differently.

Renée’s work lives where the two meet. It came out of years spent between cultures, and it holds the Eastern attention to inner life alongside the Western patience for how people actually come to live differently.

Not choosing one over the other — just letting both stay in the room.

For more than twenty-five years, Renée has been following one question: what actually helps a person live differently — not for a week, but for good?

She didn’t come to this work through a plan. She came through her own questions — the ones that wouldn’t resolve on their own, the years spent between two countries trying to make sense of herself. Over time, she began noticing the same questions appearing in different lives. Different stories. Different circumstances. Yet often, the same longing underneath. The work grew out of staying close to that.

Raised in China and living in the United States for over twenty years, she has spent much of her life learning to move between two ways of seeing — and two ways of understanding ourselves. Her background runs across English and American literature, translation, and doctoral studies in Mind-Body Medicine (身心整合策略研究, in process), along with years in corporate life, education, coaching, and community.

But the parts that shaped how she works didn’t come from any classroom. They came from living — the questions, the losses, the slow turns, and the moments when something you’d carried for years finally lands.

Over time, she found a way of working that brings together a reader’s ear for what’s underneath, real listening, a contemplative kind of attention, and plain, practical steps you can actually take on a Tuesday.

Her work isn’t about becoming someone else. Most of what matters was already there. It’s about coming to see yourself more clearly — and, often, more kindly — and letting the way you live catch up to what you find.

And sometimes, a new path begins the moment we do.

If any of this sounds like something you already know, perhaps that’s a place to begin.
